• What formalities you need to complete at Indian Airport?
  • First you will check the counter of your airline
  • They will check your passport and MDEC letter or E-Visa.
  • Then they will check your check in bag’s weight(if it’s mention 30kg allowed on your tickets then 30kg check in luggage+7kg cabin luggage you can take).
  • Weight depends through which airline you are travelling, you can ask to their support before packing your luggage.
  • After getting boarding pass you need to go immigration counter they will ask why are you going to Malaysia and check your passport and MDEC letter or E-Visa.
  • Then complete the security and wait for the flight.
• What else you can do at Indian airport?
  • You can exchange your money there.
  • You can get an International roaming plan for your sim.
  • You can buy some gifts for your friends in Malaysia or for me(Hehe).
• What you need to do first time when you land in Malaysia?
  • First you need to check the immigration counter(there will be multiple counter)
  • Told them that it is your first time in Malaysia and give them your passport and evisa(may be for tourist visa) or MDEC approval letter(if you are coming through your company after getting work permit)
  • Then they will ask for what purpose you have come to Malaysia.
  • After stamping search for the sim shop, DIGI(Telenor in India), or Celcom inside airport and choose your plan according to your need.
  • Calls rate are much higher here in Malaysia in comparison to India so most people get plan for data and they use WhatsApp for the call.
  • Plan starts from 20RM to 70RM.
  • After getting your sim install MyCar or Grab application. MyCar will be cheaper than Grab. If you are rich then it doesn’t affect you.
  • Always keep your passport and MDEC letter with you.
  • There is metro also in Malaysia, if you want to try you can go instead of taking a cab.
  • It will take almost 35-45RM from KLCC Airport to Cyberjaya.
• What will happen to your Indian SIM without recharge?
  • Your Indian SIM will work(I have IDEA and Airtel and both are working. Incoming and Outgoing will be closed without plan but signals will be there)
  • But you need to get plan if you want to call India from the same no. otherwise it will work without any pack also
• How will you exchange money?
  • Money exchange facility is at IGI Airport as well as KLCC Airport so it is your choice but if you want to get more benefits then it’s better first you convert INR to dollars and dollars into RM in Malaysia.
  • Airports take higher exchange rates, it’s better either you load money in Forex Card or You can use your Indian Debit Card also here in Malaysia which will give you the RM instead of INR and corresponding amount will be deducted from your Account.
• What you will do about food?
  • All kind of food available in Malaysia whether it is Indian, Arabic etc.
  • It is very cheaper like in 10 RM you will get a full bowl of Chole with two big naan and raita in a very good restaurant.
  • Foodpanda works in Malaysia also but there is different app here which you can use to order food.
• What kind of shops available here?
  • Mostly there are no street shops like India.(Neeche se jakr cigarette ya chai nhi la skte)
  • You have to go mall for a small stuff also.
• In Malaysia you need to follow traffic rules strictly on roads. It’s not like India(Beech se nikalkr cut maarlo) so be prepared to change your mindset.
